Measure correctly – how to find your size for leggings, sports bras and tops

Being "between two sizes" costs time and stress. By measuring correctly, you'll gain peace of mind when choosing and make more confident decisions – especially online. Here you'll learn where the tape measure really belongs, how tightly you should measure, and how to effectively check your measurements in everyday life.

Tools and preparation
A flexible tape measure, a large mirror, and two minutes of time are all you need. It's best to measure in the morning, standing upright and breathing calmly. The tape measure should be horizontal and snug, but not cut into your skin.

Underbust and upper bust circumference
Place the tape measure directly under your bust, exhale, and read off your underbust measurement in centimeters. For your upper bust measurement, place the tape measure loosely over the fullest part of your bust. These measurements together determine your EU sports bra size. It's worth comparing sizes: order two sizes, try them on at your leisure, adjust the straps, and fine-tune the closure.

Waist and hips
The waist is the narrowest part of the upper body, usually just above the belly button. You measure the hips across the fullest part of the buttocks. These two measurements are relevant for leggings and pants because they determine the fit, freedom of movement, and comfort.

Inside leg and rise
If you want to check the length of leggings, measure from the crotch to the ankle along the inside of the leg. The rise—that is, how high the waistband should sit—is a matter of taste and proportion. A higher waistband slips less and distributes tension better.

Realistically check the fit
Put the pieces on slowly and move: squats, a long lunge, arms overhead. Is nothing too tight, does the fabric stay snug while you move, and does the waistband not slip? Then the size is right. For sports bras, adjust the straps first, then the clasp. A finger should fit under the band without it sticking out.

Typical mistakes and how to avoid them
Measuring too loosely leads to too many choices, while measuring too tightly leads to bottlenecks in practice. Underwear that is bulky distorts measurements. And: Size charts from different brands are guidelines – trying on is still important, but with accurate measurements, it's much more targeted.

Conclusion:
If you measure correctly and check your measurements while moving, you'll find the right size faster. This saves returns, time, and frustration – and ensures that your clothes do what they're supposed to during training and everyday life: stay in place without being restrictive.
